Context
This project provides an opportunity for the people of Thorverton to make a really positive impact on the village and our community.
We want to create a housing project that we can all be proud of, one that sets the standard of sustainable development the village expects, and reflects the quality of Thorverton’s historic built environment in the form of a new development.
We want the homes to be designed to have excellent environmental credentials and to be energy efficient, with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality, whilst also taking into account the effect of climate change.
Ecological enhancements and increasing biodiversity within the village should be an integral part of the scheme, and the use of landscaping and planting should contribute to the attractive setting of the village.
We want the project to promote economic growth and employment in the village, and support the viability of local amenities, such as the school, the church, Post Office, local pubs, businesses and the public open spaces.
We consider it essential that the completed development is “sustainable, safe, stable, sociable and satisfying”.
