May 2024 Newsletter

The highlight of the last few weeks was certainly the Open Meeting held in the Memorial Hall on 11 April; a separate report is available on this website.

As a result of this the Steering Group has gone ahead with the formal incorporation and registration of Thorverton CLT as a Community Benefit Society. The four ‘founder members’, as required to sign the Rules, will be:

  • Andrew Foster (Chair, Designate)
  • Andrew Wiles (Company Secretary, Designate)
  • Stuart Crebo (Finance Director, Designate)
  • Helen Ratcliffe (Minutes Secretary, Designate)

The roles and mix of other directors and co-opted members of the board will be agreed once incorporation is complete.  The process now is that the signed application will be submitted to the FCA on our behalf and should take 4-6 weeks to complete. Once this is done, we can proceed with opening a bank account etc and starting the membership drive.

Details of how this process is proceeding will be posted on this website regularly.

In other news this month, we can report that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Church Commissioners has now been agreed and will be signed soon. **  Other new additions to the website include reports of the three Steering Group meetings that have been held to date; these can be seen in the Documents Section via the home page.

** STOP PRESS! The MoU was signed on 21 May 2024.  A red letter day for TCLT, for sure.
